This is our beautiful story

I’m Roman. I take pictures of New York the way it looks when it’s not paying attention to itself, in the seconds a puddle or a storefront window holds a whole street upside down.

The Start

It started by accident. A rainy night in the Village, a reflection in a puddle that looked more interesting than the thing it was reflecting. Now I look for it everywhere: subway grates, wine glasses, storm drains, a wet parking lot outside an airport. Still Streets is what I’ve collected chasing that feeling, mostly New York, sometimes wherever else I end up.

I’m not trying to make the city look prettier than it is. I’m just trying to catch it holding still for a second before it moves again.

This project sits alongside my other work at Fat Guy From Brooklyn, where I cover more of the city day to day. If you like what’s here, that’s a good place to see more.

Let’s collaborate

I’m always happy to hear from people who love this city as much as I do, whether it’s about a print, a collaboration, or just talking shop..
